We’ve ordered the tables and chairs, confirmed the Griot’s Reps flights to KC, turned in our favorite song requests to the DJ for Saturday Night and performed the No-Rain Dance. We’re almost there!
Thought we would provide you with some details about the Car Show portion of the SCT:
To date we have the following Makes represented: Porsche, VW, Chevrolet, Chrysler, Mazda, Mercedes, Scion, Toyota, and Ferrari. Porsche outweighs the competition in numbers so far. But it is definitely not too late to register! You have at least a week to hop on-line to www.ImagineAuto.com and lay your claim to one of the very unique trophies we’ll be handing out this year. This is a picture of a trophy from the First SCT 2006 made out of a used Rod and Piston and then engraved and mounted for display. This year’s trophies are also unique works of art but will be kept under cover until that day! Prizes will be awarded to the winner of each category (explained below) plus the runner up in each category. Also, there will be an overall Judge’s Pick Grand Champion that will span all five categories.
The Car Show categories are: Sport Compact (VW, Mini, Miata, Scion, Evo), Touring (BMW, Audi, Mercedes), Domestic Muscle (Mustang, Charger, Corvette, Viper), Foreign Exotic (Ferrari, Lamborghini, Lotus), Porsche (All Years, All Models). Those Makes/Models that haven’t been mentioned will be categorized accordingly. Plus, points will be awarded to entrants whose cars are significantly older and/or have high mileage in order to level the playing field a bit.
Cars will be judged top-side only with most emphasis on interior and exterior cleanliness and preservation. Be prepared to pop the lid, hood, bonnet – whichever applies – and show off the engine compartment as well as the trunk area. We’ll have a special panel of judges hand picked for the show this year instead of the people’s choice picks and awards given last year.
